Read Surat Al-Fajr with Tafsir and Translation

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

وَالْفَجْرِ [١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

By the dawn

Verse number: 1

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ [٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [by] ten nights

Verse number: 2

وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ [٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [by] the even [number] and the odd

Verse number: 3

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ [٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [by] the night when it passes,

Verse number: 4

هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ [٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

Verse number: 5

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ [٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -

Verse number: 6

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ [٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

Verse number: 7

الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ [٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

Verse number: 8

وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ [٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

Verse number: 9

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ [١٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

Verse number: 10

الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ [١١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

Verse number: 11

فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ [١٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And increased therein the corruption.

Verse number: 12

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ [١٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.

Verse number: 13

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ [١٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Indeed, your Lord is in observation.

Verse number: 14

فَأَمَّا الْإِنْسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ [١٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."

وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ [١٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

Verse number: 16

كَلَّا بَلْ لَا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ [١٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

No! But you do not honor the orphan

Verse number: 17

وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ [١٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.

Verse number: 18

وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَمًّا [١٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,

Verse number: 19

وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا [٢٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And you love wealth with immense love.

Verse number: 20

كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا [٢١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -

Verse number: 21

وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا [٢٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,

Verse number: 22

وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ [٢٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?

Verse number: 23

يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي [٢٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."

Verse number: 24

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ [٢٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,

Verse number: 25

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ [٢٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].

Verse number: 26

يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ [٢٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

Verse number: 27

ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً [٢٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

Verse number: 28

فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي [٢٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And enter among My [righteous] servants

Verse number: 29

وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي [٣٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And enter My Paradise."
