Read Surat Al-Waqia with Tafsir and Translation

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ [١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

When the Occurrence occurs,

Verse number: 1

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ [٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

There is, at its occurrence, no denial.

Verse number: 2

خَافِضَةٌ رَافِعَةٌ [٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].

Verse number: 3

إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا [٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

When the earth is shaken with convulsion

Verse number: 4

وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا [٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

Verse number: 5

فَكَانَتْ هَبَاءً مُنْبَثًّا [٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And become dust dispersing.

Verse number: 6

وَكُنْتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً [٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And you become [of] three kinds:

Verse number: 7

فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ [٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

Verse number: 8

وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ [٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

Verse number: 9

وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ [١٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And the forerunners, the forerunners -

Verse number: 10

أُولَٰئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ [١١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Those are the ones brought near [to Allah ]

Verse number: 11

فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ [١٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

In the Gardens of Pleasure,

Verse number: 12

ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ [١٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

A [large] company of the former peoples

Verse number: 13

وَقَلِيلٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ [١٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And a few of the later peoples,

Verse number: 14

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَوْضُونَةٍ [١٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

On thrones woven [with ornament],

Verse number: 15

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَابِلِينَ [١٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Reclining on them, facing each other.

Verse number: 16

يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُونَ [١٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal

Verse number: 17

بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ [١٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -

Verse number: 18

لَا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنْزِفُونَ [١٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -

Verse number: 19

وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ [٢٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And fruit of what they select

Verse number: 20

وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ [٢١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.

Verse number: 21

وَحُورٌ عِينٌ [٢٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,

Verse number: 22

كَأَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ [٢٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

The likenesses of pearls well-protected,

Verse number: 23

جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ [٢٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

As reward for what they used to do.

Verse number: 24

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا [٢٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -

Verse number: 25

إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَامًا سَلَامًا [٢٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Only a saying: "Peace, peace."

Verse number: 26

وَأَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ [٢٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

Verse number: 27

فِي سِدْرٍ مَخْضُودٍ [٢٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed

Verse number: 28

وَطَلْحٍ مَنْضُودٍ [٢٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]

Verse number: 29

وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ [٣٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And shade extended

Verse number: 30

وَمَاءٍ مَسْكُوبٍ [٣١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And water poured out

Verse number: 31

وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ [٣٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And fruit, abundant [and varied],

Verse number: 32

لَا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ [٣٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,

Verse number: 33

وَفُرُشٍ مَرْفُوعَةٍ [٣٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [upon] beds raised high.

Verse number: 34

إِنَّا أَنْشَأْنَاهُنَّ إِنْشَاءً [٣٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation

Verse number: 35

فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا [٣٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And made them virgins,

Verse number: 36

عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا [٣٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,

Verse number: 37

لِأَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ [٣٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

For the companions of the right [who are]

Verse number: 38

ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ [٣٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

A company of the former peoples

Verse number: 39

وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ [٤٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And a company of the later peoples.

Verse number: 40

وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ [٤١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

Verse number: 41

فِي سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ [٤٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

Verse number: 42

وَظِلٍّ مِنْ يَحْمُومٍ [٤٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And a shade of black smoke,

Verse number: 43

لَا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ [٤٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Neither cool nor beneficial.

Verse number: 44

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ [٤٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

Verse number: 45

وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِيمِ [٤٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And they used to persist in the great violation,

Verse number: 46

وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ [٤٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

Verse number: 47

أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ [٤٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And our forefathers [as well]?"

Verse number: 48

قُلْ إِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ [٤٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples

Verse number: 49

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ [٥٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

Verse number: 50

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ [٥١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

Verse number: 51

لَآكِلُونَ مِنْ شَجَرٍ مِنْ زَقُّومٍ [٥٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Will be eating from trees of zaqqum

Verse number: 52

فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ [٥٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And filling with it your bellies

Verse number: 53

فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ [٥٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And drinking on top of it from scalding water

Verse number: 54

فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ [٥٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

Verse number: 55

هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ [٥٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

Verse number: 56

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ [٥٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

We have created you, so why do you not believe?

Verse number: 57

أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تُمْنُونَ [٥٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Have you seen that which you emit?

Verse number: 58

أَأَنْتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُونَ [٥٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

Verse number: 59

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ [٦٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

Verse number: 60

عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنْشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ [٦١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

Verse number: 61

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ [٦٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

Verse number: 62

أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تَحْرُثُونَ [٦٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

Verse number: 63

أَأَنْتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ [٦٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

Verse number: 64

لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ [٦٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,

Verse number: 65

إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ [٦٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

Verse number: 66

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ [٦٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Rather, we have been deprived."

Verse number: 67

أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ [٦٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And have you seen the water that you drink?

Verse number: 68

أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُونَ [٦٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

Verse number: 69

لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ [٧٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

Verse number: 70

أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِي تُورُونَ [٧١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

Verse number: 71

أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَا أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْشِئُونَ [٧٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

Verse number: 72

نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِلْمُقْوِينَ [٧٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

Verse number: 73

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ [٧٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

Verse number: 74

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ [٧٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then I swear by the setting of the stars,

Verse number: 75

وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ [٧٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.
