Read Surat Al-Muddathir with Tafsir and Translation

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ [١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

O you who covers himself [with a garment],

Verse number: 1

قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ [٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Arise and warn

Verse number: 2

وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ [٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And your Lord glorify

Verse number: 3

وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ [٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And your clothing purify

Verse number: 4

وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ [٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And uncleanliness avoid

Verse number: 5

وَلَا تَمْنُنْ تَسْتَكْثِرُ [٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And do not confer favor to acquire more

Verse number: 6

وَلِرَبِّكَ فَاصْبِرْ [٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

But for your Lord be patient.

Verse number: 7

فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِي النَّاقُورِ [٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And when the trumpet is blown,

Verse number: 8

فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ [٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

That Day will be a difficult day

Verse number: 9

عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍ [١٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

For the disbelievers - not easy.

Verse number: 10

ذَرْنِي وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًا [١١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Leave Me with the one I created alone

Verse number: 11

وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُ مَالًا مَمْدُودًا [١٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And to whom I granted extensive wealth

Verse number: 12

وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًا [١٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And children present [with him]

Verse number: 13

وَمَهَّدْتُ لَهُ تَمْهِيدًا [١٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life].

Verse number: 14

ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ [١٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then he desires that I should add more.

Verse number: 15

كَلَّا إِنَّهُ كَانَ لِآيَاتِنَا عَنِيدًا [١٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate.

Verse number: 16

سَأُرْهِقُهُ صَعُودًا [١٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

I will cover him with arduous torment.

Verse number: 17

إِنَّهُ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ [١٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Indeed, he thought and deliberated.

Verse number: 18

فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ [١٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ [٢٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

Verse number: 20

ثُمَّ نَظَرَ [٢١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then he considered [again];

Verse number: 21

ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ [٢٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then he frowned and scowled;

Verse number: 22

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَاسْتَكْبَرَ [٢٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then he turned back and was arrogant

Verse number: 23

فَقَالَ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ [٢٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others].

إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا قَوْلُ الْبَشَرِ [٢٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

This is not but the word of a human being."

Verse number: 25

سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ [٢٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

I will drive him into Saqar.

Verse number: 26

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سَقَرُ [٢٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And what can make you know what is Saqar?

Verse number: 27

لَا تُبْقِي وَلَا تَذَرُ [٢٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned],

Verse number: 28

لَوَّاحَةٌ لِلْبَشَرِ [٢٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Blackening the skins.

Verse number: 29

عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ [٣٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Over it are nineteen [angels].

Verse number: 30

وَمَا جَعَلْنَا أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَائِكَةً وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَيَزْدَادَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِيمَانًا وَلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَلِيَقُولَ الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ وَالْكَافِرُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًا كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ [٣١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity.

Verse number: 31

كَلَّا وَالْقَمَرِ [٣٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

No! By the moon

Verse number: 32

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ [٣٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [by] the night when it departs

Verse number: 33

وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا أَسْفَرَ [٣٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And [by] the morning when it brightens,

Verse number: 34

إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى الْكُبَرِ [٣٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions]

Verse number: 35

نَذِيرًا لِلْبَشَرِ [٣٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

As a warning to humanity -

Verse number: 36

لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ [٣٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind.

Verse number: 37

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ [٣٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained

Verse number: 38

إِلَّا أَصْحَابَ الْيَمِينِ [٣٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Except the companions of the right,

Verse number: 39

فِي جَنَّاتٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ [٤٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

[Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other

Verse number: 40

عَنِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ [٤١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

About the criminals,

Verse number: 41

مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ [٤٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

[And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?"

Verse number: 42

قَالُوا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ [٤٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

They will say, "We were not of those who prayed,

Verse number: 43

وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ الْمِسْكِينَ [٤٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Nor did we used to feed the poor.

Verse number: 44

وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ الْخَائِضِينَ [٤٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it],

Verse number: 45

وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ [٤٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And we used to deny the Day of Recompense

Verse number: 46

حَتَّىٰ أَتَانَا الْيَقِينُ [٤٧]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Until there came to us the certainty."

Verse number: 47

فَمَا تَنْفَعُهُمْ شَفَاعَةُ الشَّافِعِينَ [٤٨]

Translation: English - Sahih International

So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors.

Verse number: 48

فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ التَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِينَ [٤٩]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away

كَأَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌ مُسْتَنْفِرَةٌ [٥٠]

Translation: English - Sahih International

As if they were alarmed donkeys

Verse number: 50

فَرَّتْ مِنْ قَسْوَرَةٍ [٥١]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Fleeing from a lion?

Verse number: 51

بَلْ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُؤْتَىٰ صُحُفًا مُنَشَّرَةً [٥٢]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about.

Verse number: 52

كَلَّا بَلْ لَا يَخَافُونَ الْآخِرَةَ [٥٣]

Translation: English - Sahih International

No! But they do not fear the Hereafter.

Verse number: 53

كَلَّا إِنَّهُ تَذْكِرَةٌ [٥٤]

Translation: English - Sahih International

No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder

Verse number: 54

فَمَنْ شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ [٥٥]

Translation: English - Sahih International

Then whoever wills will remember it.

Verse number: 55

وَمَا يَذْكُرُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ هُوَ أَهْلُ التَّقْوَىٰ وَأَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ [٥٦]

Translation: English - Sahih International

And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness.
